J. F. (Tad) Lillard, resident of Pontotoc county for almost a half century, died Saturday morning at the home of a sister-in-law, Mrs. C E. Carpenter.
The funeral will be held Monday at 2 from the Oakman Church, with burial in Oakman Cemetery.
Mr Lillard suffered a stroke 22 months ago and had been bedfast since.
He was born near Ardmore 65 years ago and moved to Pontotoc county before he was grown. He lived in the Oakman community from that time on.
He served as deputy sheriff under Fred Bowles in the early thirties, returned to farming, then about 10 years ago became a guard at the penitentiary at McAlester. He continued there until three years ago when a heart condition forced him to retire.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Pernie Lillard, Oklahoma City; sister, Mrs Ella Hart, Ada; brothers, J. M. of Ada, W. R. of Lawton and J. W. Lillard of Martha.
