William A. Bowen, 77, passed away on May 25, 2013, at his home in Yamhill.

Bill was born on Jan. 26, 1936 to Austin and Deane Bowen in Yamhill. He graduated from Yamhill-Carlton Union High School in 1954. Bill served abroad in the Army from 1954-1956, and was stationed in Berlin, Germany. Bill returned to his hometown and married Margaret A. Scott on April 2, 1960. The couple lived on the family homestead in Yamhill, and raised three daughters. Bill was a custom home builder and built many homes in Yamhill County and the Portland metro area. He also traveled to Japan and Hawaii working on custom residential and commercial projects. Bill was involved with his community and church. Bill served as Y-C alumni president in 1975, and enjoyed the annual Y-C alumni banquets with his classmates each year. He was a member of the Yamhill Methodist Church and also worshipped with family and friends at Coast Hills Community Church in McMinnville. Bill enjoyed traveling in his later years to Europe, Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean. While at home, Bill worked on the family farm and tended to his cows. He spent time participating in many activities with his children and grandchildren. Bill will be remembered by family and friends as a hardworking, devoted man, who was loved by all.

Bill is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret; daughter, Kelli Kobs and her husband, Jesse Kobs of Yamhill; daughter, Lori Bowen of Eugene; and daughter, Tesa Brainard and her husband, Kerry Brainard of Eugene; plus eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and brother, Jim Bowen. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Coast Hills Community Church at 655 NE Hwy 99 W, McMinnville, Oregon with viewing on Friday, May 31, from noon to 7 p.m. at the Chapel of Macy & Son. Private family graveside service will be held at Yamhill-Carlton Pioneer Memorial Cemetery.
