Hazel Jones, 88, lost her battle with cancer on May 27, 2013, at Sanctuary Hospice House. Hazel was born on Nov. 16, 1924, in Logan, Iowa, to Edward Theodore Wilding and Ada Crystal Jones Wilding. After graduating from Logan High School she moved to Omaha, Neb., where she met her husband, Deane Jones. They married on Nov. 27, 1945, and moved to Valejo, Calif., where Deane was stationed. After his discharge they moved briefly to Logan and then to Dunlap, Iowa. While living in Dunlap, she was active in Eastern Star and in 1955 became the Worthy Matron. They then moved back to Logan where she started the town's first Brownie troop. She was initiated into P.E.O. Chapter DP in 1958. Upon retirement they moved to Apache Junction, Ariz. It was here that they began their love of RV'ing. After the death of her husband in 1992, she moved to Tupelo to be closer to family. She was a volunteer for the Women First Resource Center for 10 years and was responsible for making and sending over 13,000 cards for the Women's First card ministry. Her longevity as a breast cancer survivor (60 years) made her an inspiration to many. Hazel loved playing bridge and any other card or board game. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, E.T. and Ada Wilding; her brother, Jack Wilding; niece, Janice Wilding Hays; her son-in-law, Dean Abraham; son, Kenneth Jones; and her husband, Deane Jones.

Hazel is survived by her daughters, Sherry Abraham of Belden, Deana Jones Bigley (John) of Sugar Camp, Wis.; grandchildren, Shannon Abraham Overton (Tim), Tamala Abraham Amicone (Mike), both of Tupelo, Heather Abraham Roberts Gregg (Shannon) of Arlington, Tenn., Kenneth Bigley of New York and Ambrea Bigley Segner (Chad) of Plymouth, Minn.; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Luke and Zachary Overton, Logan and Lauren Amicone, Dylan and Nathan Roberts, and Braden Segner; her sister, Lorna Steinke of Loveland, Colo.; sister-in-law, Jerry Miller of Spokane, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews; and her special caregivers, Hazel Wright and Cherry Payne.

A private family graveside service conducted by the Rev. Dr. Bryan Collier will be held at Lee Memorial Park at a later date. There will be no local visitation. Holland Funeral Directors is entrusted with arrangements.
