Acton Lusby, 89, of Owenton, died Sept. 7, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Mr. Lusby was born Dec. 11, 1914, in Owen County to the late William David Lusby and Hallie Wilhoite Lusby.

He served his community in many capacities, having been a former Owen County deputy sheriff, Owenton policeman, Owen County dog warden and an ambulance driver. Mr. Lusby also sold bait from his home for many years. He was a member of the Cedar Hill Baptist Church where he served as deacon.

He is survived by three sisters, Doris Bourne, Marie Lusby Morrow and Retta Hollins, all of Owenton; and eight nieces and seven nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Frances Morrow Lusby; two brothers, Herschel and William David Lusby Jr.; and a half sister, Hazel Lusby Bradley.

Funeral services were held Sept. 16 at McDonald & New Funeral Homes with Bro. Ross Layne officiating. Burial was in the Owenton Cemetery.

Pallbearers included Danny Bourne, Scott Bourne, Ralph Shelburne, Robby Trumbo, Mike Snider, and Charlie Riddle.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Hill Baptist Church.
