Jerry Norman Durham, 42, died in Blue Island Hospital near Chicago, Illinois last Thursday after an operation for gall stones. His remains, accompanied by his daughter, Miss Louise Durham, Mrs H H Lynch and Mrs Leonard Cate, Chicago, arrived here Saturday and were taken Sunday to the home of his sister, Mrs Fred Talley, where they remained until about 1 p.m. when services were held at the Baptist church by Rev H M Randall; burial was in Haley's Grove cemetery by the side of his wife, who passed away 5 years ago. His mother, who died 12 years ago, is also buried in this cemetery.
The deceased was born in Waynesboro, Tn, lived in Kentucky for several years before coming to Crab Orchard when his daughter was a very small child. For 15 years he worked for the New York Central Railway, being a fireman on the branch line of that network, the Indian Harbor Belt, until his illness.
Relatives who survive are his daughter, Miss Louise; his father, W A Durham; a brother, W L Durham; a sister, Mrs Fred Talley, with whom Miss Louise will make her future home.
