Deceased Name: Robert 'Bob' L. Whiteaker
Savannah - Robert (Bob) L. WhiteakeR, 60, died Monday September 18, 2006 at home under the care of Hospice Savannah.
He has lived in Savannah the past 17 years. He was a US Army veteran serving in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart.
He retired from the US Coast Guard after 20 years of service and then worked with Lockheed/DS2 as an aircraft electrician.
He was a member of Silk Hope Baptist Church and the Young Men's Sunday School Class.
He was also a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Post 596 and the American Legion Post 184.
Survivors: wife, Teresa Kersey Whiteaker of Savannah; daughter, Tammy Padilla of Chicago; stepsons, Jason Kersey of Savannah and Stacy (Tonya) Kersey of Savannah; brother, E.W. Whiteaker of Ocala, FL; sister, Edris White of Gallatin, Missouri; grandchildren Brandon Padilla, Brandon Kersey, Loren Kersey, Austin Kersey and Kali Noel; several nieces and nephews also survive
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday September 20, 2006 at Carter Funeral Home Bryan Chapel.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday September 21, 2006 at Silk Hope Baptist Church.
Mr. Whiteaker will lay in state for one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West.
