Bio:
Roy, my father, was the second born of three children of Roy Simpson "Doll" Jackson, Sr. and Nellie Mae "Monine" Bosworth.

Roy married Iva Ruth Johnson on May 19, 1942 in Reno, Washoe Co., Nevada. They were married just 18 days shy of 52 years at the time of Ruth's death in 1994.

Roy and Ruth had three children between them. First born was Linda Marilynn Jackson born in 1943, second born was Jerry Moran Jackson (Name changed to Gigi Monet Jackson) born in 1947, and third born was Cherie Jeanette Jackson born in 1950.

Roy retired from the US Navy with 28 years of total service both active and reserves. He served in in the Pacific fighting the Japanese in World War II and also in support during the Korean War. He served aboard the USS Boise CL-47, USS Pinkney APH-2, USS Roi CVE-103, and later aboard the USS Greenwood DE-679. After retiring from active duty service in the Navy he was with Southern Railroad as a Locomotive Fireman then Engineer for a total of 35 years before retiring.

Roy Simpson Jackson Jr., 75. of Smyrna, died Monday.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Castellaw Funeral Home in Smyrna, with the Rev. Steven Kimmel officiating. Burial will be in Kennesaw Memorial Park, with full military honors.

Survivors include his son, Jerry M. Jackson of Grand Prairie, Texas; two daughters , Jeanette Whitlock of woodstock and Linda Sagaert of Smyrna; a sister, Katherine Giesler of Smyrna; a sister-in-law; and nices and nephews.

Contributions can be made to Carlyle Fraser Heart Center, Crawford Long Hospital, 550 Peachtree St. N.E., Atlanta, Ga. 30365-2225.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
