He was a retired engineer with Seaboard Coast Line Railroad, with 53 years of service. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Clara Belle Kay Clegg; three daughters, Mrs. Louise Barrett of Columbia and Mrs. Marjorie Kammer and Miss Elizabeth Clegg of Cayce; three sons, Mr. Ervine C. Clegg, Jr. of West Columbia, Thomas Harold Clegg, Sr. of Columbia and Carl Eugene Clegg of Santee; a brother, James W. Clegg of Greenwood; eleven grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
