A.J. Morlan, 83 of Big Rapids passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 25, 2013. He was born on July 30, 1929 in Big Rapids, the son of Emmet and Jeannette (Lake) Morlan. He lived in Big Rapids his entire lifetime. In 1950 A. J. married Ida Mae Titcombe. He worked as a sewing machine mechanic at the Fashion Industries then later at Wolverine Worldwide where he retired in 1992. A. J. enjoyed attending antique steam engine shows.

He is survived by seven children, Kit (Marianne), Karen, Sally Nichelson, Ruth, Peggy, Michael and Patrick (Debra), four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother Emmet Morlan. A.J. was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ida Mae, two sisters, Alice Carpenter and Jeannette Weber.

Funeral service for A.J. will be 3:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 28th, 2013 at the Mohnke Funeral Home with Pastor Ted Johnson officiating. His family will greet friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m. until time of services.
Burial will be at Grant Center Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
