His biography is on Ancestry.com. Madison Berryman Moorman, born Kentucky. He was in Nashville, Tennessee as a young man and then went to California during the gold rush. He came back to Tennessee where he married Mary Helen Cannon, daughter of Duncan Cannon of Shelbyville, Tennessee and they had children Dr. James Duncan Moorman (born 12 May 1857 Davidson County, Tennessee, died 27 December 1932 in Highland Park, Dallas County, Texas; married Belle McClain) and Mary Lillian Moorman born 1862 Davidson County, Tennessee married Robert Milton Parks of Bedford, Indiana). His wife Mary Helen Cannon Moorman was left with his family in Kentucky during the Civil War and died there 1863. He then married Anna Ewing (1840-1872), daughter of William B. Ewing and Martha Catherine Graves of Davidson County, Tennessee and by whom he had two more children: daughter Martha Louise Moorman married Harris Allen, and E.B. Moorman died 1872. In 1870 Madison Moorman was a grocer and merchant in Shelbyville, Bedford County Tennessee. In 1880 he was a traveling salesman/cotton broker, residing in Nashville, Tennessee. He and his son James Duncan Moorman, who had studied medicine at the Louisville School of Medicine, then moved to Garland, Dallas County, Texas, and Madison lived with his son's family (with a brief excursion into New Mexico) until his death in Garland.
