SOUTH BEND - Aletha Mae Leyba, 75, residing in South Bend, passed away at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2008, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. She was born May 2, 1932, in Roann, Indiana, to George and Bessie (Flora) Harman, and had lived in South Bend most of her life. She retired from St. Mary's Convent, working in the Laundry Dept. She was a member of the former Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #58.

Mrs. Leyba is survived by two daughters, Lisa Leyba of South Bend and Linda (Kevin Stoffelen) Bjoraas of Mishawaka; two sons, David (Ronald Walls) Leyba of South Bend and Bobby Leyba of Mishawaka. Also surviving are six grandchildren, April Bradley, Angel Bradley, Daryl Bjoraas, Gabrielle Leyba, Kathryn Leyba and Bo Leyba; five great-grandchildren, Dylan Coder, Gage Perkins, Alyssa and Keirra Nemeth, and Remi Alvarez. A sister, Wilma Yocum of South Bend, and a brother, Estel (Gloria) Harman of Florida, survive Aletha as well.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a great-grandson, Caiden Brown, and by a brother, George Harman.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. today, April 10, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Akron Cemetery, Akron, IN. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Leyba may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Indiana Chapter, 8660 Guion Road, Indianapolis, IN 46268; or to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.
