GEORGE SINKS TATMAN, general manager of the News-Examiner at Connersville, carries on a family tradition in the newspaper business. His father and both his grandfathers were closely associated with Connersville journalism. His paternal grandfather, J. H. Tatman, was publisher of the only newspaper in Connersville in 1870. His maternal grandfather, G. M. Sinks, was also interested financially in a publication, which subsequently was merged with the original paper. George Sinks Tatman was born at Connersville, August 19, 1903, a son of Edwin Wright and Elizabeth (Sinks) Tatman, both of Connersville. His mother is still living in that city. Edwin Wright Tatman grew up in the atmosphere of a newspaper office and eventually he bought his father's interest in the Connersville Evening News and continued as its editor until Jaunary 1, 1920. At that date the News merged with the Connersville Examiner and has since been published as the Connersville News-Examiner. Edwin Wright Tatman died November 18, 1920. George Sinks Tatman was liberally educated, graduating from the Connersville High School, attended the Choate School at Wallingford, Connecticut, for one year was a student in Northwestern University at Evanston, Illinois, and in 1926 was graduated Bachelor of Science from Yale University. At once on returning home he took charge of the Connersville News-Examiner. Mr. Tatman is unmarried. He is a vestryman in the Episcopal Church, a Knight Templar Mason, member of the B. P. 0. Elks, Rotary Club, Y. M. C. A., Country Club, Dale Cemetery Association, and the University Club and Athletic Club of Indianapolis. While at Northwestern University he was a Phi Delta Theta and at Yale was a member of the Colony Club and Berzelius Society. He is an officer of the Three Hundred and Ninth United States Combat Engineer Reserve Regiment.
