Billie Jean Calef, 48 of Kirksville passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening (February 20 2002) in Northeast Regional Medical Center.

The daughter of Howard and Melba (Rowland) Baker, she was born on January 17 1954 in Kirksville.

Surviving are her mother Melba Rowland of Queen City, two brothers Marvin Leon Baker of Bonner Springs, Kansas and Roger Dale baker and his wife Linda of Queen City. Her fiancé, Tom Dawson of Kirksville and a very special aunt and uncle, Jill and Jerry Rowland of Queen City and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, her maternal and paternal grandparents, one aunt LaVee Mathes and one uncle Roy Rowland.

At the age of nine Billie went to live with her grandmother Rowland and attended elementary school in Memphis, Tennessee. Following the death of her grandmother she went to live with Jill and Jerry Rowland. She attended the Queen City High School graduating with the Class of 1972. The day after her graduation she begin working at Hollisters in Kirksville where she was employed at the time of her death. Billie enjoyed spending time with her family and especially enjoyed feeding and watching the backyard birds. She liked to collect antique dishes and knick knacks.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (February 24, 2002) at the Dooley Funeral Chapel with Dan Todd officiating. Recorded tapes will be played. The selections will be "Angels In Waiting" and "Go Rest High On That Mountain". Interment will be in the Rose Cemetery north of Martinstown.

Pallbearers will be Shane Rowland, Dennis Cain, Shannon Partin, John Harrelson, Rob Farley and Cameron Partin.

Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. Saturday (February 23, 2002) and the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 that evening in the Dooley Funeral Home, Queen City, Missouri.
