Robert Fehringer, 78, of Peetz, passed away Monday afternoon, May 20, 2013, at the Sterling Living Center in Sterling. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel. Rosary Services will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday evening, May 23, with Deacon Ron Michieli officiating. Mass Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, May 24, with Fr. Robert Wedow officiating. Both services will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Peetz. Burial will follow Mass Services in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Robert John Fehringer, the son of Victor and Barbara (Wieser) Fehringer, was born on Feb. 24, 1935, at Peetz. He graduated from Peetz High School in 1953.
Robert served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1959.
On Aug. 28, 1965, Robert was united in marriage to Rita Gerk at Iliff.
He was a longtime employee of the Egging Company and was well known for his ability to fix or build just about anything. He was an invaluable asset to the local farmers and the town of Peetz with his handyman skills.
Robert was a member of the Peetz Fire Department, the Peetz Town Board, the Knights of Columbus and Scared Heart Parish Council.
Survivors include: daughter, Kristine Burns of Peetz and her children, Jared, Nichole, Morgan and Jennifer; son, Matthew Fehringer and wife Kris of Parker, and their children, Kyle, Cody and Jamison; son, Michael Fehringer and wife Kerri of Aurora, and their children, Maxwell, Braeden, Kaleigh and Maddi; daughter, Carrie Fehringer of Kersey, and her son, Bryce; three sisters, Isabelle Volden and husband Pete of North Platte, Neb., Anna Mae Curtis of Peetz and Mary Lou DeWeese and husband Robert of Delores; three brothers, Melvin Fehringer and wife JoAnn of American Falls, Idaho, Leonard Fehringer and wife Harriet of Aurora, and Paul Fehringer and wife Peggy of Peetz; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Fehringer of Denver; and numerous extended family members and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Rita on June 6, 2012; two brothers, Linus and David Fehringer, one sister, Viola Hartley and her husband Robert; one brother-in-law, Cecil A. Curtis; and one grandson, Kade Fehringer.
