Henry L. Battering, 66, of Lafayette, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013 in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville, IL. Born July 15, 1946 in Lafayette, he was the son of the late Ray and Audrey (Hiether) Battering. Henry was a lifelong resident of Lafayette and was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. His marriage was to Patricia Tschaenn on June 27, 1981 in Lafayette and she survives. Henry enjoyed working in his yard, taking drives, and going out to eat with friends and family.

In addition to his wife, Patricia, Henry is survived by two sisters, Norma Gilbert of Fishers IN and Paulette Battering of Oklahoma, and one brother, Bob Funkhouser of Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Burial with military honors to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
