Son's Death Saddens An Anniversary
Thomas Bowen Dies As Parents Observe 62nd Wedding Day

The 62nd wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin C. Bowen, north Mulberry Street, was saddened today by the sudden death of their son, Thomas Bowen, 59, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Thomas Bowen was born in Battle Creek on March 27, 1880. He spent most of his life in Marshall until a few years ago, and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church. Besides his aged parents he is survived by his wife and a son Byron, both of Detroit; four sisters, Miss Alice Bowen, Mrs. William Jackson and Mrs. J. C. Paltangi, all of Detroit, and Mrs. N. J. Patterson of Grand Rapids; a brother David Bowen of Marshall, and several nieces and nephews.

The remains will be brot to the Court Funeral home here tomorrow, and funeral arrangements will be announced later.

The elder Mr. and Mrs. Bowen had planned a quiet observance of their anniversary today. They were married in Marshall November 7, 1877. Mr. Bowen, who will be 86 years old on Christmas was born in Ireland, while Mrs. Bowen, who is 81 years of age, was born in Convis township. Mr. Bowen is a retired blacksmith.

MARSHALL--Thomas W. Bowen, 59, of Milwaukee, former Marshall resident, died suddenly Monday in Milwaukee. Mr. Bowen was born March 27, 1880, in Battle Creek and came to Marshall as a boy and spent his early life here. He was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic church. Surviving are the widow, Louise; a son, Byron of Detroit; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bowen of Marshall; a brother, David of Marshall and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Paltingi, Mrs. Edna Johnson and Miss Alice Bowen, all of Detroit and Mrs. Elizabeth Patterson of Grand Rapids. The body will arrive early Wednesday and will be taken to the Court funeral home pending funeral arrangements.

MARSHALL--Requiem mass for Thomas W. Bowen, 59, who died Monday in Milwaukee, will be said at 9 a. m. Friday from St. Mary's Catholic church by the Rev. Fr. Leo W. Renkes. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. The body will be taken from the Court funeral home to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bowen, Thursday morning and the rosary will be recited there at 8 p. m. Thursday.

Requiem high mass was celebrated this morning at 9:00 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic church for Thomas Bowen, who passed away in Milwaukee, Wis., Monday. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery.

Pallbearers were Messrs: E. B. Page, Walter English, Frank Bellairs, Claude Stout, Arlow Mumaw and George Welch.
