The Rev. Dr. William R. Angus, Jr., age 83, of Orange City, passed away Monday, Oct. 8, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.
Memorial services will be held Friday, Oct. 12, at 10 a.m. at the American Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Marlin Vander Wilt, the Rev. Kenneth Dykstra and Dr. David Angus will officiate.
A family committal service will be held earlier at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-9 p.m. at the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.
William Robertson Angus was born Oct. 4, 1901, at New York City, N.Y., the son of William Robertson Angus, Sr., and Agnes Kenney Angus.
He graduated from Hartford Theological Seminary in Hartford, Conn. In 1925 he went to China as a missionary of the Reformed Church in America.
On July 5, 1927, he married Agnes Joyce Buikema at Amoy, China.
They served as missionaries to China until the communist takeover in 1951. From 1952 to 1967 they served as missionaries to the Philippines. In 1968 they returned to the United States, retiring to Orange City.
Mrs. Angus passed away Sept. 7, 1974, at Orange City.
ast month Dr. Angus became a resident of the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City.
Dr. Angus was a member of the American Reformed Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Edward (Margery) Stetson of Orange City; two sons, Dr. David of Lansing, Mich., and John of San Francisco, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert.
Memorials may be directed to the William and Joyce Angus Mission Education Fund at Northwestern College in Orange City.
