Selma Ruth Devol Chichester, 88, of Parkersburg, died Jan. 26, 2000 at the Arbors of Marietta.
She was born in Parkersburg, a daughter o f the later Rev. G.H. and Sibyl Cox Devol. She was a member of the Baptist Temple Church, having served in the choir and as a deaconess. She previously aided the Youth Fellowship at Cross Roads United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Seventh St. United methodist Church, attending the Fellowship class. She was a licensed practical nurse, working for both St. Joseph's Hospital and Camden Clark Memorial hospital earlier in life.
Survivors include her husband, Francis M. Chichester, one daughter, Doris Ingram of Parkersburg, one son, Robert Chichester of Belpre; two step daughters, Sue Woodward of Parkersburg and Sharon Rogers of Fenton, Mich.; one brother, Norman U Devol of Parkersburg; one sister, Leona Hedrick of Alexandria, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence R. Chichester; six brothers, three sisters; and one great grandddaughter.
