Franklin "Frank" D. Engel, 76, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013 in Lake Havasu City. He was born Jan. 30, 1936 in Ellis, Kan. to Alois ad Regina Engel.
Frank, as his family and friends knew him, graduated from Ellis High School and attended some college, and then he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. After his service he settled in Denver, Colo., where he raised his family and worked his trade as a refrigeration technician and machinist.
Frank retired from the Rocky Mountain News 22 years ago and moved to Lake Havasu City, which he often referred to as "paradise." He enjoyed golf, puzzles, "tinkering in his garage" and fixing things for his family, friends and neighbors. Frank was a "Jack of all Trades." He was a lifetime member of the BPOE and VFW and belonged to Our Lady of The Lake Catholic Church. He will be dearly missed.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Alvina; son, Michael Engel; daughters, Cynthia (Floyd) Teiffel and Debra (John) Lister; seven grandchildren, Chad, Jeff, Alec, Jessi, Teresa, Nicole and Abby; five brothers and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alois and Regina Engel.
Interment will take place at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colo.
