Otis L. Johnston, 96, 3518 S. Lafountain Street, formerly of Michigantown, died at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Howard Community Hospital. Born June 4, 1904, in Rose Hill, VA, he was the son of James Harmon and Sidy Elizabeth (Martin) Johnston. On December 25, 1931, he married Elva M. (Burgan), who died September 4, 2000.

He had worked in the coal mines in Lee County, VA, for 26 years and later retired from Continental Steel Corporation after 17 years. He was a member of Zion Apostolic Tabernacle Church, Frankfort, United Steel Workers Union and United Mine Workers.

Services are 3:00 p.m., Saturday, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main Street, Russiaville. The Reverend Robert Hackler will officiate. Burial will be in Middlefork Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-3:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Middlefork Cemetery, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
