Ted Barbour was the eldest son of Major and Loma Benson Barbour, he had two sisters, Lois Barbour Beasley and Wilhelmina Barbour Thornton and one brother, Sanford Barbour. Ted married Annie Mae Grimes, daughter of W.O. and Fannie B. Grimes, in 1940. They were parents of Ted Barbour Jr., Gary L. Barbour, and twins Sherry and Terry Barbour. Ted ran a country store, Ted Barbour's store, serving the Barbourtown section of Elevation township. He died in March, 1964.
