Mrs. Ida Cawdrey died suddenly on Monday, November 30, 1914, at her residence, 828 A street, Fairbury, Nebraska. The cause of her death was heart failure. She was found dead in her bed by relatives.
Ida Matthews was born at Brownville, Nebr., August 31, 1860, daughter of Capt. A. W. and Mary Matthews, both of whom lived and died in this vicinity. Capt. Matthews was clerk of the district court. With her parents she came to this county in the spring of 1869 and had been a resident here for nearly fourty-six years.
On March 29, 1879 she was married to William H. Cawdry, seven miles southwest of Fairbury. Mr. Cawdrey survives as do seven children, being, William Cawdrey, Mrs. L. M. Saxton (Grace) and A. W. Cawdrey, all three residing at North Yakima, Wash; Ida, a Fairbury teacher, Leo, Emma and Max, residing in Fairbury.
She also leaves two brothers, Dr. Austin W. Matthews, Omaha and Stanley Matthews; three sisters, Fannie Matthews and Nellie Clemmons, Hastings, Nebr., and Josephine Walker, Denver.
Funeral services had not been definitely arranged at the time this was written, pending the arrival of Mrs. Saxton from Washington. Mrs. Cawdrey was a member of the Methodist church and services will be conducted by the pastor, Rev. Orrill. Interment will be in the Fairbury cemetery.
