Mary M. (McDowell) Leader, 86, of York, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Rest Haven-York. She was the wife of the late Paul H. Leader.

The service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Salem Lutheran Church, 99 York Road, Jacobus. Burial will be in Salem Union Cemetery. Viewing will be 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. The Heffner Funeral Home of Jacobus Inc., 53 N. Main St., Jacobus, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Leader was born Oct. 29, 1912, in Dallastown. She was the daughter of the late Ella (Herbst) and James G. McDowell Sr.

She was a housemother at the former Marie Ketterman nurse residency at York Hospital. She was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in York.

Mrs. Leader is survived by four daughters, Nancy L. Snyder of Williamsburg, Va., Joanne L. Williams of Churchville, and Linda L. Welles and Jane L. Wells, both of Leader Heights; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, James G. McDowell Jr. of Dallastown; two sisters, Elizabeth Zeigler of Dallastown and Ruth Bailey of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and nieces and nephews.
Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Joseph W. Seitz.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1013 Mumma Road, Suite 303, Lemoyne 17043.
