Ferdinand came to the US in 1865. He was married to Louisa Schmidt. He was an alderman of the First Ward in Wilkes-Barre, PA from 1895 until his death in 1900. He worked for Lehigh Valley Coal Company for 20 years. He was also a grocer.

The headstone in Hollenback Cemetery and the records in the office indicated Ferdinand was born 13 Aug 1831 in Germany/Prussia and died 22 Apr 1900 of asthma.

Ferdinand's known siblings were sisters, Maria P. (1848-1935), Ernestine (1845-1906), and a brother, Frederick (1844-1897).
