Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock this afternoon at the First Baptist church for J.F. Tomlin, 77, former Greenville grocer merchant, who passed away Tuesday at his home in Sulphur, Okla. The body was brought to this city by the Stringer-Ellott (sic) Funeral Home.

Dr. A.A. Duncan of Commerce and Rev. Wm. C. Moffett, pastor of the Washington Street Baptist church conducted the services, followed by burial in Old Concord cemetery. Grandsons served as the pallbearers.

J.F. Tomlin, 77, former Greenville grocer merchant, died at 4 o'clock Tuesday morning at his home in Sulphur, Oklahoma. He had been in ill health two years and had been in critical condition for a week.

The body was brought to Greenville Tuesday and taken to the Stringer-Elliott Funeral Home. Services will be held at 3 o'clock this afternoon from the First Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. A.A. Duncan, of Commerce and Rev. W.C. Moffett, pastor of the Washington Street Baptist Church. Grandsons will be pallbearers. Burial will be in the Old Concord Cemetery.

Mr. Tomlin was born on Dec. 8, 1868 in Georgia the son of John Tomlin and Louisa Tomlin. He came to Texas 52 years ago and located in the Jacobia community. He moved to Greenville 26 years ago and was engaged in the grocery business for a number of years.

He was married to Beatrice Brooks in Texas and she died on May 24, 1930. On Oct. 31 [unreadable] he was married to Mrs. C.W. Waddell, of Sulphur, Okla.

He professed Christianity early in life and had been a member of the First Baptist Church for a number of years.

Surviving are his wife and the following children Mrs. Lib Hart, Mrs. O.C. Owens, Charlie Tomlin, Greenville, J.W. Tomlin, Dallas, and Mrs. Claud Holland, Dallas; fourteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
