WALTER CUNNINGHAM IS VICTIM OF ACCIDENT NEAR BROWNSVILLE HAD BEEN NAMED CITY OFFICER HERE.

Walter A. Cunningham, aged 30, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Cunningham of 605 1/2 Spruce Street, a well known young man of this city and a veteran of the World War, was killed Sunday morning at 6:10 a.m. in the Newell yards near Brownsville, Pa., of the P. and L. E. railroad while attending to his duties as a brakeman. He had been working at the Newell yards for the past three weeks and was to have returned home today to assume his duties as a police officer in this city. Mr. Cunningham was a veteran of the World War, having enlisted for service and having served overseas in 1918-1919 with Company A.18th Infantry, 28th Division. Ivor Davis, commander of Perry S. Gaston Post No. 343 American Legion has requested the presence of all Legion and World War veterans at the Legion home Wednesday, at 1:30 o'clock for the purpose of attending the funeral in a body. The Legion will furnish a firing squad.

Mr. Cunningham leaves to mourn his loss his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Cunningham, also two brothers, Carl and Clyde at home and one sister, Mrs. Elsie (John) Grinnen of Wampum.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 7, 1928, at 2:30 p.m. at the family residence, 605 1/2 Spruce street, with Dr. C. B. Wingerd pastor of the Central Presbyterian church. Interment will be made in Graceland cemetery.

MR. CUNNINGHAM BURIED: Funeral services for the late Walter A. Cunningham, World War veteran took place Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the family residence 605 1/2 Spruce street. Dr. C. B. Wingerd pastor of Central Presbyterian church officiated. The home was filled with many relatives and friends. A profusion of beautiful flowers banked the casket expressing esteem. The pallbearers were D. M. Abernathy, Edward Winger, Paul Cunningham, Paul Hodge, Paul Baker and Carl Baker. Full military honors were accorded in Graceland cemetery where burial was made by the American Legion in charge of commander Ivor Davis.
