Barbara Colbert Mays, "Bootsie", 68, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 12, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Braxton and Lottie Jenkins Colbert, and her brother Carl Colbert Jr. She is survived by her two sons, Thomas Richard Mays Jr. and his wife Brenda, Michael Keith Mays Sr. and his wife Judy; devoted sister, Dorothy Colbert Newman and her husband Calvin; grandchildren, Michael Keith Mays Jr., Ashley Dawn Mays, Thomas Richard Mays III, and Daniel Raymond Mays, all of Chesterfield; sister-in-law Doris Capps Colbert of Colonial Heights, and numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara grew up on a tobacco farm in southern Chesterfield where she developed her strong work ethic. She graduated from Thomas Dale High School. In the late 60's and early 70's, Barbara worked in data processing for Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Texaco Inc. Next, she joined Philip Morris USA, where, for the next 17 years, she worked in various departments including Building Operations, Quality Assurance, and Plant Engineering. Most recently she worked for Estes Express Lines where she retired. Barbara was a member of Greenwood Presbyterian Church in Chesterfield. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Thursday, May 17, at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road (rte. 10). Following visitation, her memorial service will be held at 8:00pm in the chapel, with the Rev. James Blankenship officiating. Her graveside service will be held at a future date. Barbara was deeply loved by her family and she loved them in return. To know her was to love her.

MAYS, Barbara Colbert "Bootsie", 68, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 12, 2012. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 West Hundred Road Chester, Va. 23831 with the Reverend James Blankenship officiating.
