HOUSTON HARRIS Obituary
February 5, 1919 ~ January 1, 2011

Rev. Houston Arvel Harris, a resident of Merced, was born on February 5, 1919 in Rubottom, Oklahoma in Love County. He passed from this life on January 12, 2011.

Rev. Harris was an ordained minister with the Pentecostal Church of God. In 1958 he pioneered a work in Los Banos and pastored there until 1995 when he retired and moved to Merced. Although he retired, he never stopped preaching, serving God or reading his Bible. If he was alive today he would ask you "How many times have you read your Bible all the way through this year". His hobbies were gardening and collecting knives. He loved going to garage sales and meeting new people.

Rev. Harris was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Clara Fay Harris and two grandsons, Joseph Wayne Howell, Jr. and Houston D'Wayne Howell. He is survived by 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Margie Almeata and D.W. McClain of Merced and Rita Gail and Rev. J.W. Howell of Denham Springs, Louisiana, 7 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 4 great, great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on January 19, 2011 at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Merced.
