Son of:
Thomas Carter II (1665-1754) and
Margaret Whittmore (1688-1734)

Married:
Jerusha White (1703-1781)
24 Jun 1724
Middletown, CT.

Children:
Era Carter II (Died at age 7)
Ezra Carter III

Occupation:
Miller

In Middletowns Land Records Ezra Carter is described as of Middletown in October, 1725, and from the fact that he married there in 1724, it is probable that he has been a resident for some time previously. In an agreement dated as above, 1725, he rented from Thomas miller Jr., to "teach and learn said Carter his art of Milling, that is to make and grind meal well & to manage a mill etc." The rent was to be one-half of the "hole or grains by grinding", and in addition Carter was to clear a lot. This lease was made void by the parties to the contract, June 27, 1726, "for reasons best known to ourselves."

February 23, 1731/32, Ezra Carter sells his home lot on this west side of the Connecticut River in Middletown, North Society, with house and barn, situated near land of Joseph Whitmore deceased.

About 1733, Ezra Carter settled apparently in a part of Hebron, CT., which later (1803) was incorporated in the town of Marlborough, CT. Marlborough was formed in 1803 from parts of Hebron, Colchester and Glastonbury.

Ezra and Jerusha Carter were among the ordinal members of the church in Marlborough parish, and Ezra Carter was one of the committee appointed in 1803,--54 years after it was begun,---and the laying of the foundation stone was the last work to be done on it !
