George Prochaska, 73, of Estes Park, died June 1, 2005, at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins.

He was born Jan. 30, 1932, in Ulysses, Neb. to Emil Frank and Mary Irene (Fredlick) Prochaska.

He graduated from Ulysses High School and earned a bachelor of science degree in education from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He lettered for three years in football at the university.

He married JoAnn Peck on Dec. 6, 1953 in Columbus, Neb. He taught school and coached for one year before entering the military. He served in the United States Army as a 1st Lieutenant in the infantry. He was employed with the First National Bank and Trust Company in Columbus from 1956 through 1989. He served as President and C.E.O. and was a member of the board of directors.

He moved to Estes Park upon retiring in 1989. In Estes Park, he was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church where he served on the finance council and a past board member of Crossroads Ministry. He was a past member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus where he also served on the Finance Committee.

He is survived by his wife JoAnn of Estes Park; two sons, Kevin Prochaska and his wife, Nancy, of Houston, Texas, and Kerry Prochaska and his wife, Mary, of Estes Park; two sisters, Olga Coleman and Georgia Kratochvil of Agnew, Neb.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his son Kim Prochaska, his parents, four sisters and two brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 4, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Estes Park. The Rev. Grzegorz J. Cioch will officiate. Private burial will be at Estes Valley Memorial Gardens. A Rosary Vigil will be held on Friday, June 3 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church. Deacon Tom Fox will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church or Crossroads Ministry in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 1302 Graves Avenue, Estes Park, CO 80517.
