Kroger Pettengill Naples, FL
Kroger Pettengill, a former President of the First National Bank of Cincinnati (now U.S. Bank), died on March 12, 2013 at the age of 90.
Mr. Pettengill graduated from Phillips Academy, Andover, MA, and from Princeton University, cum laude, with a degree in economics. During World War II he served with the 20th Armored Division and the Office of Strategic Services. He returned to Cincinnati in 1946 to begin his banking career and became President of First National in 1964.
Mr. Pettengill was a long-time trustee and Chairman of the Board of Cincinnati Children's Hospital in Cincinnati and Berea College in Berea, KY. In his later years he spent winters in Naples, FL where he was a member of the Hole-in-the-Wall Golf Club and the Naples Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Kathryn Mitchell Pettengill. Also surviving is a brother, Irving W. Pettengill, Jr.; a sister, Patsy P. Whitaker; a daughter, Adele P. Bunker (Grass Valley, CA); sons, Thomas K. Pettengill (Watsonville, CA), Charles A. Pettengill (Cincinnati); seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
