CEDAR GROVE - Mr. J. B. Meggs, 80 of Cedar Grove, Tennessee died Friday, March 13, 2009 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services are Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Independence Full Gospel Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Bro. Lloyd Hardy will officiate the service. The family will receive friends in the Cherry Wood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Saturday after 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Mr. Meggs was born November 14, 1928 in Henderson County, Tennessee to the late Elie Albert Meggs and Ella (Ivey) Meggs. He was a retired construction worker for the Tennessee Asphalt Company, a National Guard Veteran, and attended the New Independence Full Gospel Church. He was also preceded in death by one brother, A. G. Meggs, two sisters, Magdalene Ellis, Lorene Flowers, and one uncle, Rev. O. R. Meggs. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mildred Sue (Hardy) Meggs, two sons, Dale Meggs (wife Tracie) of Cookeville, David Meggs (wife Pam) of Huntingdon, two sisters, Iva Mae Morris of Trenton, and Betty Sue Meggs of Milan. He also leaves three grandchildren, Anna Meggs, Adam Meggs, Jason Meggs, and three great grandchildren, Sierra Meggs, Abby Langford, and Emmy Langford.
