Albert Leroy Carolus, age 90, of Belmond passed away Saturday May 18, 2013 at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond.





A Mass of Christian Burial for Leroy Carolus will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday May 25, 2013 at the St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Belmond. Rev. Nils Hernandez will officiate. Burial will take place in the St Francis Cemetery near Belmond.





Visitation for Leroy Carolus will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Friday May 24, 2013 at the Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South in Belmond and will continue one hour piror to services at the church on Saturday. A parrish rosary will be held at 4:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Leroy Carolus' name to the donor's choice.





Albert Leroy, the son of Albert and Elsie Rust Carolus was born July 18, 1922 on the family farm south of Kanawha in Wright County. He was raised on the family farm south of Klemme and graduated from Goodell High School in 1940. Leroy farmed with his father and brother until moving to a farm north of Goodell in the spring of 1965.





Leroy was united in marriage to the love of his life, Josephine C. Dominy at the St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Belmond on February 13, 1971. Their wedding was the last ceremony in the old church. In the fall of 1999, they moved to the Bel Aire Condos in Belmond.





Leroy was a life-long farmer, who was a very well-read student of the trade. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with Josephine. He was patriotic and loved his country very much. No one will ever know the extent his giving to the surrounding communities. Leroy was a member of the St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Belmond.





Leroy is survived by a sister, Margaret Nuehring of Britt, a brother, Harlan Carolus and wife, Betty of Garner, nieces, Janet (Tom) Boehnke, Linda (Steve) Pringnitz, Rosemary (Dean) Walter, nephews, Dean (Val) Carolus, Marvin (Phyllis) Nuehring, Milvern (Judy Ann) Neuhring, Monte (Candi) Nuehring, , Lt. Col. William Brignon (ret.), several great nieces and nephews, god-son, Steve (Marilyn) Janssen and dear friend and neighbor, Joan Janssen.





He is preceded in death by his wife, Josephine on September 2, 2007, his parents, brothers-in-law, Howard Dominy, Morris Nuehring, sisters-in-law, Mabel Brignon, Marian Henrickson and niece, Kathy Oxley.
