Kay R. Smiley of Denton, MD, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at her home. She was 71 years old. Born in Norton County, Kansas on December 3, 1941, Mrs. Smiley was the daughter of the late George Daniel Anderson and Farie Rozena Hughes Anderson. She came to Denton in 1986 from Annapolis, MD.
Mrs. Smiley had tended bar at the Busch's Chesapeake Inn in Annapolis for a number of years. When she moved to Denton, she became a member of the St. Luke's United Methodist Church. She also volunteered for many years at the Samaritan House in Denton.
Mrs. Smiley is survived by one daughter, Kimberly R. Banister of Glen Burnie, MD; and two sons: Marlin E. White, Jr. (Sonny) of Denton and Kenneth Ray White of Denton; one brother, Jay G. Anderson of Amsterdam, NY; seven grandchildren: Krystal R. Wilson, Philip M. Palazola, Tracee L. Judy, Jolene A. White, Kenneth C. White, Jessica G. White, and Richard White; and 13 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by two daughters, Patricia (Trish) Fay White and Joie Kay Smiley; and a brother, Faye W. Anderson.
