Clair "Chip" E. Lang, 76, of Noblesville, passed away May 15, 2013. He was born June 6, 1936, in Mainville, PA.
Chip was a graduate of Catawissa High School, PA. He served his country as a U.S. Marine as the Platoon Radioman, and on the unit's football team. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from Trine University, and was a licensed P.E. with the State of Indiana since graduation.
Chip was married for 54 years, and leaves behind a loving wife and best friend, Carol; children, Chip, Jr. and Terri (Dan); grandchildren, Dustin (Thomasina), Nathan, Tyler and Hannah; great-grandchildren, Asia, and most recent addition, Gabriel. Chip, son of Francis and June Messinger Lang, was from a family of 13. He is survived by older brother, Wally; and younger brothers, Jim, Bill and Mike; and sisters, Janet and Eleanor. Preceding Chip in death were two sisters, Mary (Crawford) and Joanne (Preis); and four brothers, Francis, Jr., John "Jack", Joseph Lynch and Robert.
Among Chip's main attributes were his volunteer work; he happily coached a little league traveling football team and little league basketball teams for 4 years at Eagledale on the Westside of Indianapolis. Chip was also active in church; at Christ Lutheran Church for 17 years, where he served on the building committee, and presently with the Bethel Lutheran Church of Noblesville.
Chip was also active in many national organizations: honorary member ITE (served a term as treasurer), IMSA (served a term as treasurer), and the American Legion. Chip worked for UniGov (United Government State of Indiana and City of Indianapolis) for 9 years, James H. Drew for 27 years and INDOT (Indiana Dept. of Transportation) for 4 years.
Chip was a devoted family man who loved watching sporting events; Colts, Pacers and his grandson's Rugby and Football games. He and his wife also loved to play and watch golf. Many of their vacations and summers were playing golf. Chip enjoyed memberships in Sahm's and Plum Creek golf leagues and playing in various golf tournaments.
