Jesse J. Kelly was the son of James Kelly and Mary R. Lange and the twin of William Hugh Kelly.

He married Helga Mariane Jensen, daughter of Christian Senius Jensen and Laurine Marie Lauritsen, ca 1912; they were married until his death. The couple had three children, one son and two daughters, namely:

"KELLY---In San Mateo, Calif., January 31, 1925, Jesse J., devoted husband of Helga M. Kelly, idolized father of James, Lucille, and Elinora Kelly, loving son of the late Captain [James] and Mary R. Kelly, brother of Charles R., John A., William H., Newton J., George L., and Reynolds C. Kelly, Mrs. Neil H. McKay and Mrs. A. J. Levesque, a native of San Francisco, Calif., aged 38 years 10 months 28 days.
The funeral will take place today (Tuesday), at 8:30 a. m., from the chapel of S. A. White, 2200 Sutter street, N. W. corner Pierce; thence to St. Dominic's Church, where a requiem high mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul, commencing at 9 a. m. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery."
