KINGSTREE - The funeral for Dr. Robert Edward "Ed" Atkinson will be at 3 p.m. today in Williamsburg Presbyterian Church. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, will be in Williamsburg Cemetery. Dr. Atkinson, 72, a retired veterinarian, died Monday in a local hospital. He was born in Morgan County, Ga., a son of Alexander W. Atkinson and Ruby Gillen Atkinson. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was president of the S.C. Veterinary Association. He was a director of the Exchange Bank of South Carolina and the Williamsburg Packing Co. He was an active member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife, two sons, a daughter, and seven grandchildren.
