Mother of nine children, Grandmother of eight children, and Great-grandmother of three children at the time of her death.

East Palestine, Ohio - Rita M. Felger, 84, of Everett Street, passed away at 11:09 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Salem Community Hospital, where she had been a patient for the past several days.

Rita was born June 8, 1928 in Sebring, a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Jessie M. Miller Naughton, Sr., and had resided in the East Palestine area since childhood. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, the church's study club as well as the Confraternity of Christian Mothers and the St. Mary's Ladies Aid Society. Rita was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Her husband, George E. Felger, whom she married July 14, 1956, preceded her in death July 17, 1996. A son, George E. Felger, Jr., had also preceded her, as had two sisters, Anna Jean Dolan and Mary Louise Sawyer and three brothers, William S., Thomas, Jr. , and James E. Naughton.

Rita is survived by five daughters, Debra A. and Connie C. Felger, both at home, Pamela K. (Steven) Kraus, Paula L. (Timothy) Richards, and Tina L. (James, Jr.) Freeman, all of East Palestine; three sons, Alan M. Felger, Salem, Scott D. (Allison) Felger, Poland, and Paul Q. (Teresa) Felger, Princeton, WV. She also leaves eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 23rd at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, with Rev. Stephen Wassie, serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
