Mary Jack Whitaker Gayle Smith, age 73 of Bullard, Texas passed away Wednesday May 15, 2013 after a short illness.

She was born to Norman and Edith Whitaker on April 30, 1940 in McCamey, Texas and grew up in Navasota but lived in Tyler for the last 51 years.

Mrs. Smith was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Bullard. She retired from The Trane Company in 1998 after 19 years of service. Mary loved to swim, travel and was a volunteer at Mother Francis Breast Cancer Center for several years. She also enjoyed spending time with family, friends and her four legged pets.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and siblings and first husband Valton Earnest Gayle in 1996 and her son Stewart Wayne Gayle in 1995.

She is survived by her husband Charles Smith, daughter Stacy Smith and a host of friends and family.

Services for Mary Jack are scheduled Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 10am at Stewart's Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Scott Brown officiating, assisted by Reverend Sherman Mayfield and Reverend Donny Barron.

Burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Maris, Jerry Hopkins, Darwin Wright, Jack Allen, Wade White and Jake Stone.

Visitation will be Friday, May 17, 2013 from 6 to 8pm at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, Tyler, 75701.
