ABBOT AND ZEPHYRHILLS- CMSgt (retired) William E. "Bill" Amos, 81, died May 15, 2013, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. He was born August 11, 1931, in Donegal Township, PA, the son of John and Mabel (Sprowls) Amos.

He served for 20 years in the US Air Force, culminating his career as Sergeant Major, Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho. His decorations include the Bronze Star for his actions during the Vietnam War.

He was a 50 year member of the Abner Wade Masonic Lodge in Sangerville, the Almeda Chapter of the OES in Guilford, and the First Congregational Church of Zephyrhills, Florida. Active in local affairs, including the Abbot Historical Society, and local government, Bill also was an avid artist.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn (Brown) Amos of Abbot and Zephyrhills, FL; 3 children, Bobbi-Jo Burdin and her husband, Doug of Gardiner, CMSgt (retired) Jeffrey Amos and his wife, Kris of Williamsburg, VA, Beth Anne Weymouth and her husband, Rod of Abbot; grandchildren, Daniel Burdin, Michael Burdin, A1C Jason Amos, Laura Amos, and Michelle Weymouth; 2 sisters, Mary Belle Chess of Fairmont, W.V., and Rebecca Zullo and her husband, Nick of Prosperity, PA; numerous extended family members.

Graveside services with military honors, will be held at the Village Cemetery in Abbot. (Crosby & Neal Funeral Home)
