He married Elizabeth Street October 16, 1851 in Yancey Co, NC.
McHenry was enlisted, evidently with reluctance, in the Confederate Army in Company B of the 58th North Carolina Infantry Regiment. January 10, 1864, at Dalton, GA.
Company rosters show that he deserted 31 March 1864. Most likely, he deserted to go home in time to plant crops. Many mountain folks starved to death with the main provider gone off to fight in the war.
His name has been seen as McHenry, and Mack Henry Arwood.
Some suggest his name was McDaniel Henry.
Henry was listed as a head of household in Yancey Co, NC. He married Margaret Elizabeth "Liza" Street on
October 16, 1851, in Yancey County, N.C.
Liza died about 1880, so in 1900 he was apparently living with his eldest son, William, and his family. Widowed and at age 72, he died from a Typhoid Fever outbreak in 1900.
Along with him, his son William, wife Cecelia, and five of their children died from Typhoid.
