Richard Ashlock fought in the Revolutionary War with his father, William, and his brothers, William, James, Jesse. He married Nancy Vaughn and had 3 children: James, Welcome, & George. After the War, he was recently found repairing roads and being in stocks from moon shining, since the government required liquor makers to be licensed. He moved to Stanford, Lincoln, Kentucky after a short stay in South Carolina in 1798 when his namesake and uncle, Richard Ashlock passed away. He divorced Nancy and married Polly Pence (FAG#110569895) in 1807 and had 3 children: Samuel, Nancy, & Catherine. He passed away in 1814, and it is assumed Polly followed shortly thereafter probably dying in childbirth. His will of 1814 shows a humble pig farm on the Ashlock homestead, with the typical Ashlock distillery.
