Jacob came from the small town of Unteralpfen near Waldshut in southern Baden about the age of 17. His parents names were Fridolin Ebner and Magdalena Baumgaertner; as far as I know they never immigrated here. His birth year is hard to pin down because of discrepancies between records. Church record for when he was married in 1867 states he was 24 years old (i.e., born 1843); Census of 1870 says he was 27 (makes sense); Census of 1880 says he was 39 (born 1841); and his tombstone says he was 45 years old when he died in July 1887 (born 1842). I took the average of 1842. He was a carpenter and settled in Williams Tnsp. and in Odenweldertown (now West Easton). He married twice. His first wife was Margaretha Haskey; they had two sons. His second wife was Barbara Zwahl; they had four sons. He died at home of a heat stroke and was buried in the old cemetery adjointing the church.
