Maudie May Janeway, 92, lifelong area resident, died Monday, 24 May 1999 at a Muskogee hospital. Graveside services were held at Enterprise Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home, Stigler. Pallbearers were Lenny, Colen, Gregory, Tracy, and Coty Janeway, and Chris Rabon. Maudie was a native of Searcy County, AR. She was born 3 Apr. 1907 to Green Berry and Alice (Kayler) Phillips. She was one of 11 children. She moved with her family to Oklahoma in 1917 where she received her formal education. She was married to Arnel Porter Janeway on 27 Jan. 1924 and made their home together and farmed their entire married life in Haskell and Pittsburg Counties. She was a member of the Church of God. She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Hazel Janeway of Stigler, three grandchildren, Patsy and Phil Rabon of Lawton, Lenny Dale and Brenda Janeway of Stigler, Colen Ray Janeway of Stigler; one sister Irlen Martin of Checotah; seven great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren, three step-great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnel P. Janeway, 13 Nov. 1960, one infant son in 1924 and a son, Albert Norman Janeway on 10 Nov. 1995.
