Albert T. Vermeire, 90, of Spring Lake, died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.

Albert was born in Ghent, Belgium. Albert attended Allegehany College in New York. Al was a realtor and owner of Almar Real Estate Co. and was the National Franchising Director for Dunkin Donuts.

Al was a winter resident of Highland Beach, Fl for 17 years. He served in the US Army Air Corps as a B-17 pilot during World War II.

For 1 month after the war, Al transported members of the Belgium Royal family by plane to visit the King who was in exile. He then later served in Air-transport Command. Albert was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, Oak Leaf Cluster and a Bronze Star. Al was a 2nd degree Knight of Columbus,

He was a parishioner of St. Catharine's Church, Spring Lake, where he was past President of Holy Name Society.

Al was predeceased by his 1st wife Marie and son Albert Vermeire.

Surviving are his wife Eleanor Malyneaux Vermeire, 3 children; Richard, Donna and Michael Vermeire, 4 step-children; Ed and Marie-Ellen, George and Mark Molyneaux, 7 Grandchildren, 10 Step-Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandson and 1 Step-Great Granddaughter.

A Funeral Mass was offered at St. Catharine's Church, Spring Lake. Burial took place in St. Catharine's Cemetery, Wall O'Brien Funeral Home, Wall was in charge of arrangements.

In Lieu of Flowers donations may be made in his name to Carmelite Monastery, 26 Harmony School Rd., Flemington, NJ 08822.
