He was a young child when they moved to Nauvoo . He grew up knowing the hardships of persecution. He often helped with the cattle. He and his younger brother, George , turned to teamwork in the Valley. They would get wagon loads of salt to sell to merchants and loads of wood, plus clay and sand for adobe to help build the Salt Lake Theater. He went with his parents to St. George where he had to help with the farming and cattle. His father opened a stone quarry with his sons.

In 1863 , Nephi was called as a teamster to Missouri to haul machinery from the East to Utah . In 1866 he was called on a mission to England . He returned with 600 converts, among them the Orchard family. They lived in St. George . In 1876 he was called to help settle Heberville (Price) . George also lived there, so they combined forces and did freighting. Price was a community living the United Order, and he was called as Bishop. He worked tirelessly with irrigation and building dams. He was a kindly man, dedicated to helping people and living the gospel. He was counseled to take a plural wife, which he did in 1887 . He moved to Bloomington for some time and then returned to St George , where he died.
