OBITUARY:
MORRIS M. "MO" ADAMS, 86, of Fort Wayne, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at Manor Care of Dunedin, Fla. "He always had a sparkle in his blue eyes." Born Aug. 4, 1918, in Aboite, he was the son of the late Clyde and Belvia (Martin) Adams. He was a 1935 Lafayette Central High School graduate and played center on the basketball team. A U.S. Army corporal during World War II, (Dec. 7 1943 to Oct. 16, 1945), he served in Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe, and was decorated with the Bronze Star, 87th Infantry Division, for courage and devotion to duty. He retired in 1976 as a supervisor with Dana Corp., after 30 years of service. He was a member of Dana Quarter Century Club, Dana Athletic Association, Dana Golf League, Dana Bowling League, Simpson United Methodist Church, where he also served as a deacon, the Adventure Club at the church, Southgate Lodge 731 F&AM and American Legion Post 499. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter and bowler. He was preceded in death by his wife, V. Maxyne (McKeeman) Adams, who died Nov. 6, 2000; son, Gerald "Jerrie" Adams; brothers, Wayne, Floyd and Donald Adams; and sisters, Gladys Adams and Wilma Shields. Survivors include daughters, Gwen (wife of the late Jerrie) Adams of Churubusco, Bonnie (Pat) Kelley of Six Mile, S.C., Michele Adams-Michaels (Dino) of Dunedin, Fla.; son, John "Jack" (Gail) Adams of Black Forest, Colo.; granddaughter, Yvette (Dr. Charles) Kimmel of Denver, Colo.; grandsons, Jon (April) Adams of Salida, Colo., Sean (Josie) Kelley of Clemson, S.C., Ryan Kelley of Pickens, S.C., Nicholas Cody Adams of Churubusco; great-grandchildren, Trystan and Jordan Kimmel, Robert Adams, Hunter, Raney and Sulliven Kelley; brother, Ellis (Josephine) Adams; sisters, Delores (Ned) Byall and Bernice (Jack) Buckel; sisters-in-law, Ruth Adams, Leora Adams; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Service is 11 a.m. Friday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, with the Rev. Scott Shoaff officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial at Lindenwood Cemetery Garden of Peace.
