A lifelong resident of Bryn Athyn, Mrs. Jeffries graduated from the Academy of the New Church in 1928. After earning a bachelor's degree in music education from West Chester State Teacher's College, now West Chester University, in 1933, she taught music for several years at Miss Zara's School in Chestnut Hill. She taught piano to students in her home until 10 years ago.
During World War II, Mrs. Jeffries worked as a secretary for the Budd Co. in Philadelphia. From 1952 until 1972, she was a contract administrator for the Defense Supply Center in Philadelphia.
Her first marriage, to the late Henry deMaine Jr., ended in divorce. In 1962 she married Harold F. Jeffries. "We met through music," he said. "She found out I was a singer and offered to play for me."
Mrs. Jeffries accompanied her husband when he sang for family and friends and at local events.
She enjoyed gardening and reading famous women's biographies and autobiographies.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Nanette deMaine; a sister; and two brothers.
The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Bryn Athyn Cathedral, Cathedral Road and Huntingdon Pike, Bryn Athyn. Burial is private.
