Ira W. Weber, 82, of the town of Scott, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on August 6, 1929, in the town of Scott to the late William and Ida (Miske) Weber, and on August 27, 1955, he was united in marriage to Betty Achterberg at St. John's Lutheran Church in West Bend. Betty preceded Ira in death 17 years ago in November.
Ira served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Following his military service, he worked for the West Bend Company where he met his wife, Betty. Later, he was employed by the Gehl Company in West Bend for over 30 years, retiring as a superintendent. After retirement he continued farming on the family homestead that has been in the family for 200 years. He was a member of the Hexelbank Club, Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott, the American Legion Lt. Ray Dickop Post 36 of West Bend and served on the town of Scott board as supervisor for eight years. Ira hauled milk, worked in a cheese factory, and enjoyed fishing in Canada. He will be missed by his family and by all who knew him.
Those Ira leaves behind to cherish his memory including three children, Ira Charles (Tammy) Weber of Fillmore, Kathi Jane (special friend, Mark) Franke and Mark Alan (Patricia) Weber both of the town of Scott; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Vernon (Delores) Weber of Adell; a sister, Florence Ramel of Beechwood, a special friend, Rita Gantenbein of West Bend and other relatives.
In addition to his wife and parents, Ira was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Henry Weber and a sister, Marcella Weber.
Funeral services for Ira were held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2011, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott, Brazelton Drive. Reverend Kurt Ziemann officiated and burial in the church cemetery, with military honor rites by members of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum, followed the service.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Saturday from noon until the time of service.
Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Ira's arrangements.
