Margaret Irene Baughman Crowther, 91, widow of William (Bill) Edwin Crowther, residing most recently with her daughter in Pelzer, and formerly of the Cold Springs community in Abbeville, SC, died February 27, 2009 at Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson, SC.

She was born Feb. 13, 1918 in McCormick, SC, daughter of the late James Bennett JB" Baughman, Sr. and Annie Rebecca "Bessie" McNeill Baughman. She was employed until her retirement in 1986 at The Ladies Shoppe in Abbeville. She was an active member of Main St. United Methodist Church for more than 70 years. She was an active member of Circle 4, and she taught a children's Sunday school class there for many years. With great love for her family and for gardening, she was much involved in her Baughman and McNeill family reunions, as well as being a 50-year member of the Wild Flower Garden Club in Cold Springs.

Survivors are her daughter, Sarah Margaret ("Sam") Sexauer and her husband, Louis, of Pelzer, SC and one much loved grandson, Michael L. Sexauer of Melbourne, Australia. She is also survived by one sister, Joann Rauton, and 12 beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, JB Baughman Jr. and Bill Baughman, and a sister, Rebecca Bond.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home and Cremation Services and a Celebration of Life will be conducted Monday March 2, 2009 at 11:00 AM in Main St. United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randy Taylor officiating. A private burial will occur later at Long Cane Cemetery.
